such a teese! Christian Dior Haute Couture F/W '08 '09 Highlights

Its no secret that Ms. Dita and the timeless fashion brand have made fabulous bedfellows, taking her from kitsch to couture. This collection seems tailor made for the high fashion pin-up.

details. details.

I'm a sucker for sculptural details and no one does it better than Zac Posen. This piece from pre-fall '08 is definitely on my wish list after I spotted it on lovely Leighton Meester from Gossip Girl.

How many photographers does it take to make a picture?

The photographer duo is so hot right now. You may have seen the Miu Miu photos by Mert + Marcus (below, July 17th post) or heard of Markus Klinko + Indrani, but there is a fresh pair for you to slip into. Reed + Rader. Its new, its funky, its fresh.

The 1986 Chelsea Hop!

Dsquared2 isn't usually my favorite, but their spring 09 collection has some choice looks! It has an obvious 1980's b-boy inspiration with that ever present Chelsea boy twist. And its looks that can be easily duplicated even on a small budget. Shop around at your local vintage and thift shops (even try ebay for the eyewear by CAZAL that RUN DMC made so fashionable) and if you're really digg'n the khaki shorts, and you are in the NYC/greenpoint, Brooklyn area, stop into ALTER and pick up a pair! I think the models they chose added some kitch too and I actually really enjoy it.

Notice the Holga around the models neck (directly above). +5 bonus points.

LattaBags to Bother, Ms. Jill Sander

I have to talk shit for just a second.
Jill Sander bores the living shit out of me, but I guess if you throw enough bags on someone its bound to be interesting.

Rasta-Punk Skittle Explosion + Urban-Beach Goth-Chic

I've just taken a good hard look at John Gallianos latest collection. At first, I hated it. Really. Really. Really hated it. Then I wasn't sure. Some of the designs are really innovative and styled in a really interesting way, but the color palette was throwing me off. I like his bohemian/hippie references with the patch work and vests, but it seems to be hit and miss. I cant make a decision on this, so make one yourself.

want.

I know, I know. We're supposed to be over gladiators and the like. But I couldn't help it. The Dior Extreme Cutout Sandal for Fall '08. want.

the perfect addition to any wardrobe.

If its one thing our friends across the pond have on us its a penchant for badass hats. Being a stylist with a hat habit I was psyched to get my hands on the creations of Lucy Hanks for an upcoming editorial. Lucy is a UK-based couture milliner with a self-described love of "macabre glamour & swarovski crystals". Her fabulous creations feature actual bird skulls fully encrusted with pure swarovski crystals.

From Bags to Bitches

karl lagerfeld has taken us on a trip for the Fall 08' Chanel Bag collection. He stuck to his blacks and I commend him for it, but brought some funk this time around too. Check it out.

RingFlashions!

So after some recent critics from major NYC agencies I decided to go out on a limb and and try something different. If you know my work (http://www.mvalentino.com/) you'll know I love negative space/light. Well this was an attempt to hold onto my precious shadows while throwing a little pop in. Mmmm yeah. Get some.

More (than) amazing T's!

Okay, okay, so I said it was hard to impress me with graphic T's and it is, believe me, it is. I just happen to discover two brands who are producing some seriously amazing T-shirts (and tanks!) in one day! Lets just call it luck. This time it's Cardboard Robot. Just take a peek and you will understand.

GRN apple tree

It's hard to impress me with a graphic T but GRN apple tree has done it to the max. They're a mix of old school B&W images with a modern graphic touch. Love them, love them, love them. BUY BUY BUY!
